New tires for Bonnie

I'm testing a new blogging program. So while this is going to be a small post it should lead the way to more posts from the road.

I've decided to take a rather long trip to California next week. As a result I was worried about the condition of my tires. Bonnie has 9906 miles and is still on her original set of wheels. The rear wheel shows quite a bit of wear along the center strip. I don't want to get caught in a rain storm and start to hydroplane due to poor water displacement.

So I stopped by my local Triumph dealership "Performance Cycle Center" of Tucson.

And they were able to hook me up with replacement Metzler MeZ 2's 130/80 R 17 in the rear and a
Metzler lasertec 100/90-19 up front.

It took about an hour and I was back on the road.

More posts to come!

  1. Almost 10k miles out of a tire isn't too bad. Better safe than sorry. Enjoy your trip and keep the rubberside down.

  2. It is nice that you can blog from your iphone while on the road. It will be good to follow your adventures.

I haven't had time to catch up on everyone's blogs lately but I am hoping to with the cooler weather.

    Happy riding.

  3. @SonjaM, Thanks! I was doubting myself on whether I really needed the front tire as well. But someone mentioned the fact that the Southwest will really dry out your tires, so I'm glad I did.

@Trobairitz, I enjoyed your latest post on Triumphs for sale. If only I had a huge garage to buy them all:) Thanks for the comment!

  4. You'll get another 6000 miles safely out of that rear tyre. Stop when there is a bald strip 3/4" wide round the centre. if it starts a slide you go onto a lean and the tread gets to work again. All our roads are macadamised bitumin though.I would not use it on a concrete highway.
